This fancy restaurant is located in the heart of Sydney city within walking distance from Circular Quay station. Neptune Palace serves a wide variety of Malaysian and Chinese cuisine and has won the Asian Restaurant of the Year Award in 1994! This unique restaurant has a fish tank in the restaurant providing customers with the option of selecting live seafood to be cooked as their meal, yes that’s right live seafood! They also cater to vegetarians with a large menu and varied options and have unlimited rice refills without extra cost, so head down there if you’re keen to fill up your spoon with endless rice.

One negative aspect is that this restaurant is very pricy, so if you are looking for something cheap this is not the place to go. But if you are willing to pay a bit more than usual for a truly fancy meal then Neptune Palace will without difficulty deliver excellent customer service and quality food to make up for its hefty prices. It was a treat to dine in at Neptune Palace and I will definitely be returning their someday when I save up enough money.

Green Peppercorn

Green Peppercorn is a traditional Thai and Laos restaurant that offers a buzzy space with birdcages hanging from the ceiling, yes the ceiling! This is by far my favourite Thai restaurant in Sydney and its outstanding performance easily reflects this persona. This restaurant is highly recommended for family, friends or partners to go out and have a bite, especially during dinner time. Green Peppercorn is well known for its spicy food and the customers have the option of selecting the spiciness level of their food, which has delighted its customers for many years. The prices for the food are average, costing only $12.90 for a beef, chicken or pork chilli basil & garlic dish. There are two Green Peppercorn restaurants, one located in Fairfield and the other in Sydney city.

The worst two thing about my experience at Green Peppercorn was the limited parking and when I visited the restaurant it had reached capacity and so my esteemed colleagues and I had to wait 20 minutes before we could get a table. Parking is located on a side street near Fairfield train station which is the reason why it was difficult to find parking.

Fortunately, the wait was definitely worth it and we received not only quality customer service but were also blown away by the warm vibe inside the restaurant. The layout and design had a very welcoming ambiance which made us relaxed and I found myself eagerly smiling before I began ordering my food. It took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive which was slightly late, but the freshness and the quality of the food definitely made up for the delay. Looking forward to my next meal at Green Peppercorn.

Rashays is a well renowned restaurant that is famous for its quality food, warm atmosphere and cheap prices! Their menu caters for everyone offering a wide selection of food from pizza to seafood and even desert. Rashays has 16 locations, mostly within the Western Sydney suburbs to tailor to its customers all around Sydney.

Despite its negative image, I actually find it a nice place to go out and eat dinner. The staff are extremely friendly and are always checking up on their customers to see if they need anything and these experiences make it evident that they have excellent customer service etiquette.

The only downside to Rashays is that they, unfortunately, changed staff several times when I had visited them
and new staff sometimes mistake orders. Nevertheless, Rashays has a homely ambiance and is highly recommended for those looking for a good meal at a cheap price. I will definitely be returning to try it out again in the near future.

El Jannah

By Adwar Alkhamesi

One of Adwar’s favourite restaurant’s is El Jannah. It literally means ‘Heaven’ in Arabic and its quality, excellent customer service and convenient location undoubtedly reflects that image. It was established in 1998 and is located in the heart of Granville, within walking distance from Granville train station. There is also a second location at Punchbowl, which is more convenient for residents closer to that area.

The staff are extremely quick and the food is always fresh at any time of day, regardless of whether the restaurant is packed or not. The charcoal chicken is without doubt one of the juiciest and most succulent dish that a customer could ask for and its garlic sauce is to die for. The price for the food is pretty average compared to others. Takeaway is fairly cheap (a whole chicken cut in ¼ with 2 small garlic sauces is only $11.90!). Dinning is more expensive, but are given quality service and served with pickles, garlic sauce and bread. They also have vegetarian food to cater for all customers. A classic vegetarian dish is the falafel, which is only $6.50.

The only issue with this restaurant, unfortunately, is that they do not accept cards, so cash is a must if you head down to try it out. Nevertheless, there are ATM’s nearby and I promise you will not regret trying out this restaurant. Its unique garlic sauce is one of its highlights. Indeed, critics have ranked El Jannah the 54th best place to eat in Australia. For a local business, with only 2 stores this is well above average.
